Principal's Message

Message from the Principal: Brother Eric Ali-- When guiding our children toward proper Islamic character, we must remember that part of being a wise teacher or parent is being kind and gentle with our children. During the time of the Prophet (saw), a Bedouin urinated in the masjid. Immediately the Prophet’s companions rushed toward the man to beat him. But the Prophet (saw) told them to leave him alone. After the man finished urinating, the Prophet (saw) told him, “Verily, filth and urine are not permitted in these masjids. Indeed, it is for the remembrance of Allah.” The Messenger said to his companions, “I was sent to make things easy, and I was not sent to make things difficult.” And he poured a bucket of water over the urine. Even though our children were raised in Islam, eventually they will have to choose to be Muslims. Let’s help make the proper decision easy for them.-- Al-Madinah School: 1635 South Saint Andrews Place, Los Angeles, California 90019-- (1-323) 296-5961

DANGER ALERT!!! (By: Grandma Jeddah)

DANGER ALERT!!! (By: Grandma Jeddah)

We want our children to grow up as good Muslims. We try to teach them to fear Allah and to know right from wrong. Sometimes we believe that if we raise them in an Islamic environment, they will be protected from practicing some of the most abominable and harmful ills of secular society. WRONG!. Our children are living in a world that promotes "freedom" as a virtue. Many are interacting with non-Muslims and  Muslims who condone some of the most despicable practices that Allah the Most High has warned us against.

Marijuana is now legal in California and several other states in the U.S. Not only is it being sold in the traditional manner of dried leaves, it is now being promoted to our youth through what is now called "edibles"  and even as candy! Shaitan deceives by making the bad look good and the good look bad.

In urban Los Angeles, one can find not one--but 2 or 3 "marijuana shops" within blocks of one another.

A true battle is going on with good and bad. Talk to your children about drugs. Teach them ways to say "No"  when they are offered drugs. Here are a few ways"

"No, I'm cool." "I don't need that." I'm not into that, man."

Also, teach them the harms of drugs. I haven't read the book below, but the introduction is excellent. It mentions some of the harms of drugs that we can mention to our children.

And teach them the tricks and deceptions of this society and Shaitan. Years ago, tobacco was touted as a cure-all for many ailments. The same is being done with "medical marijuana". Interestingly, even though marijuana has recently been  promoted as medicinal, now in some states, such as Colorado, it is also allowed for recreational use, similar to alcohol.

You might be interested in picking up a copy of this book that was sent to me in my email. It's called The Effects of Drugs Upon the Mind. Here is the link to the book and the introduction:
May Allah protect our children-and us-- from harm and keep us all on the straight path.
From its harms is that the addict is a burden upon the society. He does not bring any good to his society nor is he successful in that which he brings forth.
From its harms is that the addict is despised and hated, even by the closest of people to him.
From its harms is the squandering of wealth and the inability to make noble earnings. So he resorts to earning wealth by way of criminal means. I seek Allaah’s refuge for me and for you.
From its harms is deterioration of one’s health and the contraction of incurable diseases, leading the person to death.
From its harms is the loss of dignity and inclining towards the wicked, from men or women.
From its harms is the shortening of life due to what it causes from destruction of the bodily organs and due to what is exposes the person to from grief and stress.
From its harms is the Shayateen gaining mastery over the addict and the angels of mercy being far away from him, until he is driven to the Hellfire, and the refuge is with Allaah. Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic said:
“And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allaah) (i.e. this Qur’aan and worship of Allaah), We appoint for him Shaytaan (Satan _ devil) to be a Qarîn (an intimate companion) to him. And verily, they (devils) hinder them from the Path (of Allaah), but they think that they are guided aright! Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarîn (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! It will profit you not this Day (O you who turn away from Allaah’s remembrance and His worship, etc.) as you did wrong, (and) that you will be sharers (you and your Qarîn) in the punishment.”
